International competition first prize winning Master Plan and detailed Urban Design of expansion of Chengdu Giant Panda Reserve.

 

The Master Plan provides an extended breeding centre with the aim of becoming one of the world's largest research and education centres dedicated to the study and welfare of Giant Pandas. 

 

Replicating the natural habitat of the Giant Panda, the sites natural features are preserved and enhanced with the priority of catering for the animals needs. The landscape strategy adopted introduces necessary new bamboo areas and an extensive water netwok throughout the site.

 

The Master Plan also includes an international conference centre serving both international and domestic tourism needs.

 

Key objectives were to create an international centre for the breeding, rearing and scientific research of the giant panda whilst encouraging public access, education and recreation.
