Integrated Resort Island Development

Changzi Island covers 7.97 sq km and has a coastline of about 14 km. The island which lies off the Zhoushan mainland has benefitted from a new bridge conection.

Existing fishing communities have been protected and provided upgraded housing on the island. The main focus is on tourism, recreation, leisure, quality housing and a new island commercial centre. Approximately 4 million sq m of new floorspace is created for a population of about 50,000.

The land use strategy forsees a golf based Garden City; Buddhist Moutain Retreat; Fishermen's Village and Reseetlement Area; a Marina; and a Water Park.

Using extensive international experience in planning for islands, an in-depth study was completed to identify the range of activities relevant for the island and the spatial layout of the proposed development clusters.
